A Weekend of Materials Mayhem
26 June 2012
Friday's Pewter Casting session at the Wellcome Collection was a runaway hit, with 3 solid hours of mould making and casting enabling over 100 people to craft "a pewter thingy" and take it home to keep for all time.
Saturday was the Institute of Making's Carving Day and saw 30 dedicated participants learn the fundamentals of classical stone carving techniques in the morning, before being let loose on an array of materials for an afternoon of more experimental materials mayhem. A satisfying mess was produced as people set-to on breeze blocks, soap, foam, plaster, carrots, chocolate, chalk and cheese.
